One of the biggest tragedies of trauma is that we risk losing touch with our truest, fullest self and subsequently, lose our ability to be present in our life and to make conscious choices that match what we truly want and need.
“Fake it till ya make it”?
When we “fake it till we make it,” we have to minimize or silence our more vulnerable parts. This mimics a core attribute of trauma responses— forced abandonment of certain parts of ourselves in order to survive.
